Subject: Family of Eagles - Maple Leaf From: [Deleted] Date: 1997/07/07 Message-Id: [Deleted] Organization: [Deleted] Newsgroups: rec.collecting.coins These are the facts from Gary Stewart of the Royal Canadian Mint regarding Family of Eagles marketing of a special edition of the 1/10 oz gold Maple Leaf. The RCM is producing a special issue of maple leafs with the FOE privy mark. While FOE describes these as "reverse proofs," Stewart says the RCM does not consider them proofs. They have the brilliant devices and "scratchy" fields associated with the 1 oz silver maple leafs. The FOE press release mentions a $75 issue price by the RCM. This is also misrepresentation, as Stewart says the entire custom mint run of these coins is being sold directly to FOE, at a price "pennies higher" than the normal 1/10 oz maple leafs. The coins are NOT AVAILABLE from the RCM as they are selling them at all to FOE in bulk. Stewart seemed to be unaware of the many objectionable aspects of Family of Eagles' marketing methods.
