Subject: Shame on Family of Eagles From: [Deleted] Date: 1997/06/27 Message-Id: [Deleted] Organization: [Deleted] Newsgroups: rec.collecting.coins An elderly couple came into my store trying to sell me their wedding rings. They were worth only a couple of hundred dollars, and they said they would try somewhere else because they needed $600 right away. I assumed it was needed for doctor bills, but the husband told me that they had enrolled in the Family of Eagles plan (scheme) and that the Royal Canadian Mint had just announced that they were making a special edition of the 1/10 oz gold maple leaf with the Family of Eagles logo. They needed the $600 to buy 8 of these coins, because "they would really take off, because it's the first time a government mint had so honored a private company." I showed them the 1/10 oz eagles and maples that I sell for $39. The man said "Yes, but those coins can't earn me $100,000 or more a year!" Anyone know anything about the Canada tie-in? I thought FOE was so dedicated to "reducing the national debt" by selling AMERICAN gold coins. These people are a blight on the coin business and they deserve to burn in hell.
