The Numismatic Death Penalty Page

This page is always under construction.

In the hobby of numismatics, there are certain dealers/traders who abuse the hobby of numismatics so often, that they anger numismatists (especially our Young Numismatists) and give this hobby a 'black eye.' Also, some numismatists are so disgusted by these dealers/traders and leave the hobby of numismatics all together, and stereotype numismatic dealers/traders as "bad." Well, some numismatic dealers/traders are bad, but there are many good numismatic dealers/traders in the world/web. This page is devoted to tell which numismatic dealers/traders are the worst in the hobby of numismatics.

For the guidelines to the Numismatic Death Penalty (NDP), go to The Numismatic Death Penalty Guidelines.

This list is updated every month, so please bookmark this page to see what recent news may have been added.

New additions are in bold and italic text.

If you like to say anything about any of the dealers on this list, e-mail me and your name/email will not be disclosed when I publish your comment on a page linked to this one.

A star before the name of the dealer means that I have done business with the dealer in question before.

For the Dealer/Trader Category:
D denotes dealer,
and T denotes trader.

For the Offenses:

Category B - Bad Customer Service is divided into these subcategories:
BL - Being too slow to ship merchandise/refund money
BR - Reneging on a deal -- It can be any of these below:
1. Not sending money to the other party for a coin that s/he bought or won in an auction.
2. Not sending the coin(s) after money has been received by him/her.
3. Not following through with the return policy as described in his/her advertisment.
BZ - Other Kind of Bad Customer Service not listed above

C - Crimes may may have been committed by the bad dealer.

Category F - False/Misleading/Deceptive Advertising is divided into these subcategories:
FA - Altering/Defacing Coins
FC - Cleaning Coins in a way that harms the coin
FD - Dipping Coins
FO - Overgrading Coins
FW - Whizzing Coins
FX - Counterfeiting Coins
FZ - Other Kind Of False Advertising not listed above
S - Spamming (in any form)
T - Telemarketing & Overcharging -- Charges more than 40% more than what (the higher of Coin World Trends, Coin Dealer Newletter (CDN, aka Greysheet), Certified Coin Dealer Newsletter (CCDN, aka Bluesheet), or the Pink Sheet (Indian Cent pricing guide, available at Eagle Eye Rare Coins, for Indian Cents only)) say the price of a properly graded coin would be for a majority of coins (and appears on Home Shopping Channels, Sunday Newspaper Inserts, etc.)

For the notes:

P [Date] - Permanent Numismatic Death Penalty -- means that this company will never be removed from this list until they go out of business, and this is only placed when that dealer is committing very serious offenses and/or hurts numismatists and/or the general public. As such, this is a big black spot on that dealer's record, and only will be used if warranted and justified.

And the Dealers/Traders on the NDP are....
